This week’s weather at Betteshanger CP for the latest evening 10 mile time trial was very different to the windy and cold conditions of the previous two weeks. Although still quite cool, there was very little wind and we were lucky to run the event between a couple of sharp showers.
Because of a number of withdrawals due to illness and prior commitments, our small field of 13 riders became just 9 signing on, 2 juniors and 7 seniors.
Probably the best rides of the evening were done by our 2 junior riders. Dougie Tulett had an excellent ride and broke the 24 minute barrier to record a time of 23.44 while sister Alice went home with a new PB and a fine time of 31.49. Dougie’s time was also the fastest of the evening.
Regarding the senior riders, Simon Henderson’s time of 24.10 was good enough for best senior while second claim member Maria Sparks was quickest woman in 26.03. Sorcha Page finished as the first Thanet RC woman with a time of 32.29.
Times of all riders can be found in the accompanying table.
As always, we must thank our band of helpers who ensure that the event can take place. This week, they were Malcolm Adams, David Tulett, Andy McCall, Michael Friend, Terry Fearn, Steve Wright and Dave Mastin.
