Sunday 5th June 2016
With the gloom of the last 10 day behind us in the south east of England the sun made a welcome appearance for the first 50 in Kent this season.
Once again the KCA organised a great event on the ‘flat’ Q50/11 course down on ‘The Marsh’.
As with previous events in 2016 there was a good turnout of riders from TRC with 8 riders starting
The first 40 riders set off in very calm conditions with little or no wind but from 06:40 the breeze picked up to a 12 mph NE.
My experience of this was somewhat mixed as it felt like a tail wind from the start to Camber with the NE more noticeable on the second lap back from Camber to Hammonds Corner
Overall I would say it was a good day and some great times were forthcoming.
Well done to Chris Fennell who in what I believe was his first 50 claimed the course record and has now set the new TRC 50 TT record of 01:45:36 – YES 01:45:36.
Chris breaks the previous record of 01:50:38 set by Shay Giles in 1986 – well done Chris!
Not to be out done Nick Fennell and Dave Danton also set a PB’s with 02:03:14 and 02:08:07 respectively.
Subject to confirmation TRC also had the fastest team of 3 Chris, Huck & Simon 05:42:53
TRC times in start order:
Nick Fennell 02:03:14 (PB)
Phil Cook 02:30:14
Dave Danton 02:08:07 (PB)
Chris Fennell 01:45:36 (PB) (Club Record)
Huck Garip 01:58:25
Andy McCall 02: 26:25
Andy Burrows DNF (P)
Simon Henderson 01:58:52
