We are very grateful for the excellent contribution of Helen Hill both as a Coach and as the Club Welfare Officer. It is perhaps a little unfortunate that good practice and the rules for re-accreditation for British Cycling’s ‘Club Mark’ require that these roles are separated. Hence, we need a responsible and appropriate adult to act as the Club Welfare Officer.
Members will be aware of the phenomenal success of the club’s Go-Ride programme which culminated recently with the award from British Cycling of Runner Up in the Club of Year award. This success is down to the hard work of our Go-Ride volunteers. As we look to the future it is crucial that we have only the highest standards with respect to the care of our younger members and thus we now need a dedicated Club Welfare Officer.
The Welfare Officer stands outside of the coaching set up and acts as a point of contact between British Cycling and the membership for all welfare concerns. Training and support is available from British Cycling. The individual needs to be both approachable and responsible. I can supply more details if required but please let me know if you are interested in the role.
Jim Dickson.
