The latest evening 10 at Betteshanger CP attracted a good field of 47 riders, no doubt the good weather attracting more riders than we have had for some time. It was sunny with a south westerly breeze, and times on the whole were reasonable but not outstanding.
It was encouraging to see 12 juniors take part, a big improvement in numbers compared to recent weeks. Fastest was Tom Lowther of Folkestone VC with a fine time of 23.50. Second place went to the quickest of the Thanet RC juniors, Lance Childs, whose time was 24.22. Freya Cook was the fastest girl, and she came close to breaking the 30 minute barrier with 30.03.
The senior field was made up of 33 solo riders and a 2-up pairing. Once again, Chris Fennell got under 20 minutes with an excellent 19.56 for first place. Emma Lewis of Aprire HSS was the quickest woman with 24.30, while Nicola Goodban was first of several Thanet RC women in 25.13. Faye Faiers improved her PB and got below 27 minutes for the first time with 26.42. The two up pairing of Jo Smith and Rob Milnes ended up with 24.12.
