It was a good weather and a good turnout for the latest evening “10” at Betteshanger. It was warm, sunny with a south westerly breeze. The better conditions meant that most riders improved their times from the previous week, and a number went home with either PB’s or at least course PB’s.
In total, 52 riders signed on, made up from 12 juniors, 38 seniors and one 2-up pairing.
Regarding junior riders, the fastest for a second week in a row was Toby Anderton of VC Deal with 22.29. Lance Childs was second and the quickest of the Thanet RC juniors with 24.02, just beating George Pittock by one second. Making his debut was 5 year old Reuben Houghton-Robert, who ended up with 63.11.
Chris Fennell was the fastest senior rider with a fine 19.39, with brother Nic in second place with 20.42. Third place went to Dan Martin, riding in his University of Bath colours, who achieved his season’s aim of getting under 21 minutes. Dan recorded 20.58.
The times of all riders can be found in the attached PDF files.
This week’s helpers were Teresa Childs, Chris Redmond, Andy Faiers, Helen Hill, Terry Fearn, Pip McVey, George Bussey and Dave Mastin.
Don’t forget that the event on 12th July at Betteshanger is a 4-up team time trial (maximum 30 teams) over 14 miles. The start time is 18.30, sign on closing at 18.15.
