Well, it was certainly hot for the penultimate Thanet Way evening 10 of the season. According to the BBC, it was the hottest July day on record, and the hottest day since 2006. We had a smaller field than usual, as a number of regular riders rested up ahead of the PMR open 10 the following day. This week’s wind was an easterly breeze for the 15 riders who signed on, usually the best direction for some good times on this course. This proved to be the case, as 4 riders ended up with PB’s, David Robert, Matt Hall, Nic Fennell and Scott Meeks.
Making a rare appearance at an evening 10 was Thanet RC race team member, Martin Glynn, who topped the list of times with a very respectable 21.47, with Simon Henderson in second place on 22.20. All times can be seen in the attachment.
As always, thanks go to the volunteers who give up their rides and time to ensure the event can take place. This week, it was Teresa Childs, Huck Garip, Malcolm Adams, Colin Robinson, Colin Inett, Andy McCall and Dave Mastin.
Next week (8th July) is the final evening 10 on the Thanet Way course before returning to Fowlmead on the 15th July. Please note that the first event back at Fowlmead is a 4-up team time trial.
