After a few weeks away, club evening events returned to Betteshanger with a 25 mile time trial. Conditions were very damp and grey, which meant only 32 riders signed on, and some were delayed by heavy traffic on the Sandwich bypass due to the closure of the toll bridge.
It was an evening to forget for several riders as there were a number of punctures, particularly for the Robinson family. Also, Chris Childs punctured on the line, got a wheel change, but then broke a bolt on his saddle clamp.
Fastest ride was by Chris Fennell with an excellent 51.23, which would have been even quicker as Chris stopped twice, thinking he had punctured as he lost grip at the rear. Olly Dickson was fastest of the juniors with 1.05.14. Third placed junior was Lance Childs with 1.11.04, which is a youth age record for 25 miles for a 12 year old.
Times are to be found in the attached files.
Thanks as always to our helpers, who this week were Teresa Childs, Nicky Robinson, Jim Dickson, Andy McCall and Dave Mastin.
