Premier Foods Victoria Park Fountain Go Ride Racing. The rain stopped and despite small fields in each category we were treated to some great racing round the technically demanding wet circuit. In the U8 – well done to Poppy Dunton (Wigmore CC) and Luke Hart (TRC) for their strong wins, but the big battle of the race was for 2/3 place was between Abbie Thompson (Ipswich Velo) and Ruth Mangar (2nd in TT) with Abbie just edging it and sister Eva finishing 4th. Max Robinson and Lughaidh Cook (both TRC) rode up with the U12’s for the mass start with the field fracturing early on with Finn Dunton (Wigmore CC), Charlie Hart (TRC) and Max getting away. Charlie couldn’t quite hang on and finished 3rd whilst Finn and Max stuck together until Finn put the power down late in the last lap to take 1st. Another good battle ensued between Stanley Rose (TRC) and Lughaidh until Lughaidh just got away towards the end and nearly undid his advantage by coming off on the penultimate corner, jumping back on to just take it. Special mention to first girl Eleanor Fox who soldiered on despite a sore foot not allowing herself to give up. Lastly the U14/16 race was a really tight affair with no advantage given as lap after lap they hung together, ultimately it came down to the last corner or two and the uphill sprint to the line to finally decide things with Toby Yemm, Flynn Robinson, Jack Hill of TRC 1st to 3rd and Adam Wison coming in a very respectable fourth. Heidi Hammond has taken some great photos of the day and thanks to our sponsors Premier Foods, our helpers and wonderful youth riders for making this a great afternoon’s racing. Special mention to the Thompson family for coming down to Kent from Ipswich Velo.
