Thanet RC Race Team
The Thanet RC Race Team is to provide a team environment for club members who are committed to competitive cycle racing. The team will seek to provide an enjoyable and competitive environment for race team members and will have a particular focus on developing young talent from within the club.The founder members of the team of 9 riders were Rick Perkins, Rob Milnes, Jack Bryant, Sebastian Dickson, Bill Hawkes, Simon Henderson, Joshua Outram, Mark Palmer and Steve Quincey. Since then the team has grown and the current members are listed below.
The Race Team has a strong collaboration with the Go-Ride and Youth Development sections of Thanet Road Club, ensuring that the young riders can progress into a race team with the experience to help mentor and guide.
Mission Statement

Race team members will be expected to meet both performance and commitment criteria. Team Criteria
• The Thanet road club race team is open to any current Thanet Road Club member, including second claim members.• Must be a Thanet Road Club member to be on the team.
• The Thanet Road Club Race Team members will be based on the following criteria; (Members can commit to either Road Race or Time Trial or both.)
Commitment
• Will commit to ride in at least 10 races per year.• Will have, and keep to, a training plan.
• Will Race in race team kit at all events.
• Will commit to ride for the team for the full year.
Road Racing Performance
• Elite/1st, 2nd and 3rd Category BC licence holders or• 4th Cat licence holders with 2 results in top half and 1 top 20 placing of 3/4 Cat races or gaining 3rd cat license.
TT Performance - Men
• A sub 23’30” 10 mile Time Trial or• A sub 60 minute 25 mile Time Trial or
• Have ridden > 10 time trails in the previous season with + age standard
TT Performance - Junior Males
• A sub 24 minute 10 mile Time TrialTT Performance - Women
• A sub 24 minute 10 mile Time Trial or• A sub 64 minute 25 mile Time Trial
• Have ridden > 10 time trails in the previous season with + age standard
TT Performance - Junior Female
• A sub 26 minute 10 mile Time Trial or• A sub 66 minute 25 mile Time Trial
Behaviour
• Will support TRC events through riding AND supporting• Provide inspiration and support to younger riders
• Older riders are to support the younger riders through shared logistics
• Be organised – plan, train for and enter events
Budgeting
• The ethos of the budgeting is to be fair and to direct more of the funding to the young and loyal riders• All budgeting will be voted for by the team members
• All funding and decisions will be completely transparent and visible to all team members
• No funding will be directed to new members of the club (To receive funding via the team you must have been a TRC member for at least one year; this avoids people joining the team just to gain access to any sponsorship the team may have attracted. If new members wish to join the team they will need to fund all their kit and expenses themselves in the first year)
