We had the largest field of the season so far for the latest evening 10 at Betteshanger CP, no doubt in part due to the fine weather. it was warm with a gentle wind from a southerly direction, and this lead to a number of PB’s, both course and overall, for a number of riders. A total of 50 riders took part, including 12 juniors. There was three generations of the Tulett family on the track, and also a debut for Nic Fennell’s girlfriend, Sophie Driscoll.
The course PB was updated by Chris Fennell (Independent Pedaler) to an impressive 19.26, while brother Nic took second place as fastest Thanet RC rider by cracking the 20 minute barrier to record 19.59. This was a mere 2 seconds ahead of 3rd placed Dan Martin of Bath Uni CC with 20.01. Faye Faiers improved her PB to be fastest senior woman overall, but was somewhat disappointed with 26.00, hoping to get into the 25’s.
Regarding the juniors, it was a clear victory for Toby Anderton of VC Deal with a fine 22.44. The fastest Thanet RC was also the fastest girl, with Catherine Morrell coming second with 24.57, which is another PB age record. Third place went to Charlie Dickson, the first Thanet RC boy, in a time of 25.22.

There was a good turnout of volunteers this week, and it was good to see both Simon Henderson and Martin Russell on the mend after their recent accidents. Other helpers were Lawrence Martin, Sue Shields, Di Yemm, Jo Smith, Malcolm Adams, Andrew Morrell, Nick Scott, George Chittenden, Andy McCall and Dave Mastin.
