This week saw the best turnout of the year so far with a total of 29 riders signing on, which included 6 juniors. It was a first outing for Peter Bunton, and it was good to see returning member Steve Rivers. Steve told me this was his first race in 25 years! The weather was warm, but with the usual Betteshanger breeze.
As expected, the times of the juniors went to form with Dougie Tulett as fastest boy, and Ferne Peirce as fastest girl. Dougie’s time was 25.20, while Ferne’s was 26.22.
Regarding the seniors, there were no surprises either. Bill Hawkes was top of the times with 21.16, just 4 seconds away from his course PB. After last week’s DNF, Faye Faiers claimed top spot amongst the women riders with 26.07.
