Once again, the weather at Betteshanger CP was warm, but the south westerly wind was stronger than the previous week, which meant that quite a few riders were a bit slower. With the start of the school holidays, the number of riders was down on previous events, with a total of 37 riders taking part.
Eight juniors took to the start line and Toby Anderton of VC Deal was top of the times with 23.05, with Toby Yemm fastest Thanet RC junior in second place in a time of 24.10. Once again, Catherine Morrell was first girl in 25.51.
Chris Fennell of The Independent Pedaler headed the times for the senior riders with another sub 20 minute ride, recording 19.33. Dan Martin (University of Bath CC) was second in 20.33, whilst third place went to the first of the Thanet RC riders, Mike Kirkness, who stopped the watch at 22.05. Faye Faiers was fastest woman with a new PB and a time of 25.57. Finally, the tandem pairing of Andy McCall and Sue Shields improved once more to record 25.29.
The times of all riders are to be found in the attached PDF documents.
This week’s group of helpers was Shawn Manning, Jo Smith, Di Yemm, George Chittenden, Michael Friend, Terry Fearn, Keith Allen and Dave Mastin.
