The latest evening “10” at Betteshanger CP attracted a disappointing field of just 9 riders. Factors were probably England playing in the Euros semi-final, although kick off time was late enough that it would have been possible to ride the event and still get home before kick-off, or the fact that it was billed as a 4-up, although it was not essential to have a 4-up team. We had 6 senior riders, 1 junior and a solitary 2-up team.
Conditions were bright and sunny, but there was a stiff westerly breeze to contend with. The sole junior rider was Dougie Tulett, whose time was 23.06. Mat Lister headed the times of the senior riders with 22.19, with Simon Henderson second in 23.23.
Finally, our 2-up team comprised daughter and father pairing of Ferne and Trevor Peirce, who recorded a time of 27.11.
Times of all riders can be found in the accompanying table.
As always, we must thank our band of helpers who ensure that the event can take place. This week, they were Terry & Jenny Fearn, Malcolm Adams and Dave Mastin.
