After last week’s brief appearance of summer weather, it was back to the all too familiar weather we have experienced in 2024. There was the threat of rain, although it did stay dry, but there was a stiff westerly breeze to battle against.  As a result, the times of all riders were affected.  We had a fairly small field of 16 riders, 4 juniors, 8 seniors and a couple of 2-up teams.

True to form, Dougie Tulett was top of the junior times with 23.21, while second place and fastest girl went to Nina Reid in a time of 28.27.

Top senior rider was Neil Gerrard once again with 22.19, with Simon Henderson in second place with 23.10.  Abigail Hoss finished as quickest female rider in a time of 28.39.  For a bit of fun, Mark Sandum rode his Genesis road bike which he had used a few weeks earlier for his LEJOG expedition.  He was pleased with a time of 34.01, better than he had expected to do.

The quickest of the 2-up teams was the pairing of Faye Faiers and Pete Huckstep in 26.07.  They beat the regular 2-up pairing of Ola Zdzieblowska and Richard McVey who recorded a time of 29.20,

Times of all riders can be found in the accompanying table.

As always, we must thank our band of helpers who ensure that the event can take place.  This week, they were Andy McCall, Malcolm Adams and Dave Mastin.
