It was nice to see some good weather for the second week in a row at Betteshanger CP for the latest evening “10”. It was warm with just a gentle breeze. We had 18 riders sign on for the event, with 4 juniors, 12 senior solo riders and a 2-up pair.
With the good weather came some good times, especially for our 4 junior riders. Possibly, the two best rides of the evening came from Dougie and Alice Tulett. Dougie now has a new PB as he crossed the line with an excellent time of 22.57. Sister Alice also went home with a new PB, taking off over a minute and a half off her previous best to record 30.05. Seb Mugford’s time of 29.10 was an improvement on last week’s time, while it was a first solo 10 mile ride for 11 year old Stanley Preston (VC Deal) whose time was a fine 33.00.
After last week’s puncture prevented him from riding, this week Neil Gerrard had better luck and topped the times for the senior riders with 22.02. Abigail Hoss was fastest woman rider with a time of 27.43, a good improvement on her previous time from a fortnight earlier. Also making improvements on their previous outing was the 2-up pair of Ola Zdzieblowska and Richard McVey who finished with 27.46.
Times of all riders can be found in the accompanying table.
As always, we must thank our band of helpers who ensure that the event can take place. This week, they were Malcolm Adams, Michael Friend, Terry Fearn, Andy McCall, David Tulett and Dave Mastin.
