This week’s evening time trial was actually two events, one over 10 miles and the other over 25 miles. The conditions at Betteshanger were quite pleasant, being sunny, warm and with a steady breeze. Just three riders opted for the shorter distance, while eight riders signed on for the “25”.
Brian Hood was quickest over 10 miles with 26.41, with Colin Inett second in a time of 29.17. In third place and fastest female rider was Caroline Rigby with a time of 31.52.
Moving onto the 25-mile event, we had several PB’s, and several club age records were broken too. Fastest rider was Simon Henderson, who recorded a time of 58.05, while in second place was junior Dougie Tulett with a time of 58.44. In the early laps, Dougie was up on Simon, but dropped back a little due to having set off at 10-mile pace! Dougie’s time is a PB I believe, and also a club age record for a 15-year-old male. In third place was the fastest female, Faye Faiers with 1:07:43, which I believe is also a PB for Faye. Alice Tulett and Seb Mugford both completed the distance for the first time. Alice’s time was 1:18:01, which is a club age record for a 12-year-old girl. Finally, there were two age records for both male and female 74-year-olds, which were broken by Pete Huckstep and Jenny Fearn respectively.
Times of all riders can be found in the accompanying table.
As always, we must thank our band of helpers who ensure that the event can take place. This week, they were Terry Fearn, Malcolm Adams, David Tulett and Dave Mastin.
