The latest evening “10” mile time trial at Betteshanger was listed as a 4-up team time trial, although it was open to teams of 2 or 3 riders, or solo riders too. In the end we had six 2-up teams and nine solo riders take to the track. We were lucky with the weather, as a couple of hours before the start time, there was a short but very intense shower. Luckily, this soon passed by and we ran the event in warm but cloudy conditions.
The field of solos riders was predominantly made up of senior riders, the sole exception was William Tulett in his HPV. Fastest solo rider of the evening was VC Deal’s Pete Elms with a time of 23.03, while second place went to the quickest Thanet RC rider, Simon Henderson with 23.21. Third place and fastest women solo rider was Marga Lopez in a time of 23.45.
It was a pair of junior riders who came in fastest of the 2-up pairs. Dougie Tulett and Alex Dack recorded a very respectable time of 23.16. Second place went to the first mixed team of Faye Faiers and Pete Huckstep with a time of 25.57.
The times of all riders are to be found in the table.
Our thanks as always go to our band of helpers. This week, they were Caroline Rigby, Terry Fearn, Malcolm Adams, Michael Friend, Andy McCall and Dave Mastin.
