The longest running event in the club’s calendar is the annual open 25 mile time trial, and the latest edition took place on the Thanet Way course on 26th June 2016. A good field of 83 riders entered the event, and the club was well represented with 21 riders. Conditions were a bit mixed with the early riders avoiding the worst of the rain and stiff headwind on the outward leg.
It was a successful day for club riders with Chris Fennell taking the top spot with a new course record of 50.54, and Chris was riding when the conditions worsened! Dan Martin was top junior with 56.12, and this was good enough to give him 5th place overall. Simon Henderson was 6th with 56.30 and was also 2nd in the veterans category with a plus of 12.09. Chris, Dan and Simon also formed the winning team of three.
My thanks go out to all the helpers who made the event a success, doing duties such as marshalling, timekeeping, tea bar, pushing off and placing the safety signs on the course. In no particular order, these were Caroline Rigby, Tansy Martin, Teresa Childs, Sue Shields, Eddie Brown, Jim & Seb Dickson, Jason Wares, Brett Dennis, Richard Hull, Christine Burrows, Terry Fearn, Marius Burger and Andy McCall.
The times of all riders can be found in the attached PDF document.
