VTTA Kent Group 50, 19/07/15
A brave band of riders signed on for the Kent VTTA annual 50 mile championship on the ‘popular’ Q50/11 course made up of two laps around Brenzett, Camber and Lydd.
Initial conditions were fine but the later starters set off in heavy rain, with all rider eventually getting a good soaking before the sun made an appearance for the latter part of the event.
It was the first 50 outing for our junior Meadabh Cook, no doubt in training for the 12 hour… she went on to land the junior prize and medal – well done!
Despite the rain the conditions were practically perfect for ‘testing’ with a slight SW breeze. Many riders went on to record PB’s and improved times.

Evening 10, Fowlmead, 22/07/15
We had one of our smaller field for the first 10 back on the Fowlmead, sorry, Betteshanger circuit! Reasons for this could have been riders saving their legs for the PMR the following day, the start of the holiday season, or that the weather looked rather ominous. A total of 34 riders signed on, 25 seniors and 9 juniors, and conditions were overcast and breezy, but the rain just about held off.
Fastest ride of the night was actually by a junior with Ollie Robinson recording 22.19, beating the fastest senior by a second. Fastest senior was Simon Henderson with 22.20. After her successful ride in the 50 (see above), Meadbhb Cook had a less successful ride with a slipping seat post and did not finish. Times can be found in the attachments.
Helpers for this event were Tony Arnold, Martin Russell, Colin Inett, Teresa Childs, Michael Friend, Chris Redmond and Dave Mastin.

PMR Evening 10 Series, Round 4, 23/07/15
The final round of this popular series was again supported by a number of club riders. This week, the wind had swung around to a more south westerly direction, which added a few seconds to most riders times, when compared to the previous week. However, it did not stop Bill Hawkes from getting a PB with 21.24, for 6th overall and fastest Thanet RC rider.
Chris Fennell, second claim member, took top spot again with a ride just in side 20 minutes with 19.58.
Club times, in starting order:

Simon Henderson: 21.47 (9th)
