After the recent hot weather, it was back to more familiar Betteshanger weather, that is, cooler and a fresh breeze to contend with. This weeks field was made up from 5 juniors, 37 seniors and two on a tandem. A few riders improved their times over the previous “10”, but most riders saw their times a bit slower, no doubt as a consequence of the less favourable conditions.
Charlie Burgess was the fastest junior in a very respectable time of 24.38. Catherine Morrell recorded 26.20 for third place and fastest girl.
The senior field saw several new faces taking to the start line, including former club member, Sue Roscoe (was Sue Green). This was Sue’s first time trial for many years. Second claim member Chris Fennell of the Independent Pedaler was quickest with yet another ride under 20 minutes. Chris’s time was 19.37, exactly a minute ahead of brother Nic Fennell, who was second in 20.37, and fastest of the Thanet RC riders. Jo Smith tested out her injured knee after a recent rounders injury, and came in with a time of 25.29 as the quickest woman rider. Finally, the tandem pairing of Sue Shields and Andy McCall went round in 25.59, some way off their best time from a fortnight earlier.
Times for all riders can be found in the PDF files below.
Thanks go to this week band of volunteers, who were Nicola Goodban, Charmaine Pullen, Rob Milnes, Keith Allen, Richard McVey, Simon Henderson and Dave Mastin.
Remember, the next event on 15th August is a 4-up team time trial over 7 laps of the track. It would be great to see as many teams as possible for this popular event.
