After the 25 mile time trial last week, it was a return to the shorter distance of 10 miles around a rather cool, breezy but sunny Betteshanger track. We had one of the best turnouts of the season with a total of 52 riders taking part. Also, there was a wide range of ages on the track with the two youngest riders 79 years younger than Pip McVey, making his first appearance this year!
Fourteen juniors took part and the fastest by some way was Toby Perry with another good ride, recording 22.28. In second place was the fastest girl, which was Catherine Morrell in a time of 26.14, which is yet another age record for Catherine.
The senior field contained thirty eight riders, and once again the best time was by second claim member, Chris Fennel of the Independent Pedaler. Chris broke the magic 20 minute barrier with an excellent 19.49. Second place went to another second claim member, Dan Martin of University of Bath CC, with a fine time of 20.18. Nic Fennell was the quickest of the Thanet RC riders in third place with 20.28. Folkestone VC’s Charmaine Pullen was top woman with 25.09, while Nicola Goodban was the first of several Thanet RC women with a time of 25.21.
Times of all riders can be found in the PDF documents below.
Once again, thanks go to the helpers, without whom, the events do not take place. This week, they were Michael Friend, Malcolm Adams, Sue Shields, Andrew Morrell, Terry Fearn, Andy McCall and Dave Mastin.
