This week’s evening time trial at Betteshanger CP was over the longer distance of 25 miles. Conditions were typical of Betteshanger, that is, cool, breezy and rather grey. There was a field of 22 riders, which included 2 juniors.
The quickest of the juniors was the club’s George Pittock who rode well to get inside the hour with 59.34. The other junior was 12 year old Louie Harris of VC Deal. Louie didn’t realise it was a 25 mile event, but decided to have a go anyway. He didn’t complete the full distance, but with a bit of maths, we estimate that he would have covered the 25 miles in around 1.25.24.
Ollie Robinson (Team Wiggins) was our fastest senior by a comfortable margin with 53.12. It was very tight for second place and first TRC rider, with Shawn Manning recording 56.00, beating Nick Scott by a mere two seconds. Charmaine Pullen of Folkestone VC was first woman with 1.02.30, with Faye Faiers the first TRC woman in a time of 1.10.06.
Times of all riders are in the PDF files.
This weeks volunteers were Nicola Goodban, Jenny & Terry Fearn, Paul Griffiths, Sue Shields, Michael Friend, Andy McCall and Dave Mastin.
