Couple of results from the weekend and reminder of upcoming events.
George Pittock (Youth B, U14) travelled to Norfolk for the Old Buckenham Cycling Festival on Saturday. The festival is a legacy event after the Tour de France passed through the village in 2014 and includes two days of cycling, live music, beer festival and a funfair.
The youth and senior criterium races on Saturday attracted a quality field of riders from across the East of England and further afield. The circuit itself was of 1.1km round reputedly the largest village green in England, and flat with five corners, two of them sharp.
George made a determined start and was second into the first sharp corner which was only about 100m from the start line. The pace was fairly consistent for 13 of the 16 laps with attacks quickly closed down. George went to the front in a planned move with three laps to go, but he was passed as the pace increased and the bunch was split.
The race was won by regular rival Klaidas Lazickas of Barking & Dagenham, currently ranked fifth in the UK, ahead of Bryn Richards of Lincoln club Bourne Wheelers and Owen Lightfoot of East Midlands based MI Racing Academy, both of whom achieved podium places at the 2015 national championships. George finished in the middle of a small group and was pleased with seventh place in a race of such a standard.
Ollie Robinson prior to him breaking his wrist! Competed at the crits in the park 2-3-4 series at Cylopark and came in 6th in field to 25 riders
