Mike Catlow Cup-14

THE MIKE CATLOW TROPHY

Michael died on 4 October 1981, aged eighteen, when he was hit by a car near Broomfield during a Thanet Way 10 mile time trial. Living in Dover, Mike attended Astor Secondary School, and worked at the local Halfords and Currys on government training schemes. First riding with Deal, he moved to Thanet RC for more racing and was described by then secretary, Jim Braginton, as “one of the most promising racing cyclists in the area.”

Michael toured on his bike in Europe as part of his Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme with his friends Teresa and Eddie Crockett and their mum Linda (née Crockett, now Brinklow.)
