Another good turnout of TRC riders attended the VTTA 30 mile National Championships TT Sunday morning. Held on the Q30/2 on the A2070 past Hamstreet. The condition were cold and drizzly with a northerly wind which made a fast section on the run down to Brenzett and Brookland. Even with the poor weather some good time were set.
The fastest ride of the day came from second claim member Chris Fennell (The Independent Pedaler) who broke the course record by nearly a minute with a 1:01:48. It was a close finish for second and third with Neil Lauder (PMR) 1:03:42 just pipping Nic Fennell (TRC) 1:03:53 to second place.
Once results are confirmed, Nic Fennell’s time of 1:03:53 was fast enough to break Chris Bax’s long standing club record for 20 years of 1:05:50. Chris Bax still holds the age record for this distance.
TRC Finishing times in start order:
Andy Burrows – 1:30:55
Huck Garip – 1:08:08
Chris Bax (2nd claim) – 1:16:55
Scott Meeks – 1:11:59
Adrian Hawkins – 1:09:02
Nic Fennell – 1:03:53 – 3rd (club record)
Andy McCall – 1:27:13
Chris Fennell (2nd claim) – 1:01:48 – 1st (course record)
