This week’s local time trial was the Kent Vets 25 on the Chilham course, organised by Bob Giles. It was cool and grey with a south westerly wind, and there was some light rain for the later starters. It was a hard ride to the turn into the wind, but the wind didn’t seem to offer much help on the return leg.

There was a good number of first and second claim members riding, and between them, they took all three podium places. First was Chris Fennell of the Independent Pedaler with 50.35, in spite of breaking both tri bar pads and buckling his rear wheel at the 18 mile mark! As illustrated by Chris’s problems, the road surface in many places is very poor. Nic Fennell was second with 51.59, just three seconds ahead of Dan Martin (University of Bath CC), who recorded 52.02.
