The Saturday event was the combined Tricycle Association (SE) and CC Bexley 10 mile time trial on the Grain course. Conditions were the opposite to those experienced the previous week, with a tail wind to the turn, and a stiff head wind for the return leg.
The trike event had two club members making their 3 wheeled debuts for 2019. There was also several club riders taking part on two wheels. I’m not sure but I think the club may have picked up the team of 3 prize, thanks to Simon Henderson, Colin Robinson and Simon Charles.
Times of our riders in start order as follow:-
Andy McCall (trike): 31.22,
Terry Fearn (trike): 38.47,
Simon Charles: 26.59,
Dave Mastin: 27.30,
Colin Robinson: 24.23,
Malcolm Adams (2nd claim): 29.08,
Simon Henderson: 23.03.
Paul Griffiths: 28.48.
Moving onto Sunday, and closer to home, it was the club’s annual open 25 mile time trial on the Q25/10 Thanet Way course, organised by Dave Mastin, and ably assisted by a number of club members. Conditions were reasonable, but a north easterly breeze made the return legs to St Nicholas a bit of a challenge. However, this didn’t prevent Chris Fennell of the Independent Pedaler updating his own course record by over a minute to 48.41! There was success for club members, with Nic Fennell coming second in 51.42, and he was joined by Adrian Hawkins and Simon Henderson in claiming the prize money for the team of three.
The attached PDF document gives full details of all prize winners, rider’s times and the helpers who turned out to ensure the event went ahead successfully.
Report by Dave Mastin.
